Donation of bedding, blankets and homewares made to help struggling families

Online Home Shop (OHS) have donated £75,000 worth of bedding, blankets and homewares to two charities who are part of the ‘Brick-by-Brick’ initiative to distribute surplus essential goods to families in Greater Manchester and Fife. The project is supported by former Prime Minister Gordon Brown, and Mayor of Greater Manchester Andy Burnham. Pallets of bedding, blankets and homewares were sent out to charities The Brick in Wigan, as well as The Cottage Family Centre in Kirkcaldy, Scotland.

Moshe Cohen, Managing Director at OHS commented: “When we heard about this worthy cause we felt compelled to contribute, putting returned blankets, bedding and homewares to good use stock rather than being re-sold or going to waste. With the cost of living crisis hitting hard, it is more important than ever to help families who are struggling with home finances.”

The Brick is an anti-poverty charity offering services to people who are at risk of or transitioning through homelessness, financial hardship or crisis. The Cottage Family Centre offers a number of support services for vulnerable children and families across the Kirkcaldy and Fife area.

Keely Dalfen, Chief Executive at The Brick commented: “Within hours of launching The Brick-by-Brick multi bank we were contacted by OHS with the most amazing offer to donate surplus stock. Thank you for joining our coalition of compassionate and ethical donor businesses. Together we can build a better future and #endchildpoverty.”

Said Gordon Brown, “We are incredibly pleased to be working with OHS and we can assure you that The Brick-by-Brick and The Big House projects, through the networks of professional social workers, health visitors, teachers and charities we work with will get the highly coveted goods you have donated right to the families who need them most.”
