Are you feeling drained and more tired than normal after the craziness of the festive period? Now that we are well on the way into January and Blue Monday is coming up, the January blues are very much kicking in so it’s time for a little pick me up. Ditch the unrealistic new year’s resolutions and opt to see them as new year reminders instead.

We’re almost positive that some of the tips that we’ve listed below to help avoid the
January blues are going to overlap with what you’ve set out to do less or more of this year anyway. Just remember you’re not the only one to feel like this and January, by its very nature, is fundamentally the same as any other artificially-created month!

5 Top Tips To Avoid The January Blues

Move Your Body

One sure way to beat the January blues is to, although it sounds cliché, do 20 minutes of exercise every day. Yes, we know, it’s a given but it really will help fill you with energy and keep you focused throughout the day. It could even be something as small as going for a walk around the block with your furry friend or cycling to work if you usually drive.

Make Lists

Another method for kicking the January blues to the curb is to make lists. We guarantee it can transform your days! It’s recommended that you do this the night before to clear your mind so that when you wake up, you’re ready for the day. As the day goes on and you complete tasks, you’ll have that sweet satisfaction of ticking them off.

If you’re struggling to get everything done, try instead writing down tasks only when they’re done, even if it’s something as simple as having a shower, it’ll motivate you to carry on and not feel defeated at the end of the day. Cure my January blues - tick!

Improve Your Sleep

In case you needed reminding, sleep is super important to our day-to-day life. Nailing your sleeping pattern is a great course of action to beat the January blues as well as ensure that you have a restful rest of 2023. Don’t jump in the deep end to start with, try going to bed 15 minutes earlier and so on until your body gets used to going to bed at a suitable time. Hydrate Yourself

Drinking water is often something many of us forget to do. Being dehydrated can however cause headaches and fatigue as well as affect our mood and mental well-being. Should one of your resolutions be to not buy coffee in the mornings, hit two birds with one stone by swapping your caffeine fix out for a glass of water and get those January blues gone!

You Time

We frequently forget to take time out for ourselves, especially during the January blues. Instead of scrolling on social media in the evening, take an hour of out your day to run yourself a hot bath, light some candles and read a nice book. We’ve even written a blog post on ‘How To Create The Perfect Bath’ to make sure that you have the most relaxing experience. Taking care of your mind and body can be achieved by doing things other than exercising, you know!
